Bio

Jeremy, is a third year Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology and a first-year M.A. student in the School of Education at the University of California, Davis. His current research focuses in the areas of race, policing, exclusionary discipline, and educational outcomes. Jeremy’s current work examines the association between the percentage of Black students in K-12 public schools and the presence of sworn law enforcement officers on campus. Additionally, investigating whether there is a relationship between the presence of sworn law enforcement officers and the suspension rates of students in public schools. His work is motivated by the want to assist policy makers and school districts to make informed decisions when making decisions surrounding school climate and safety.
